  • garden-routeCape Town, South Africa

A stay in Cape Town is perfectly complimented with a few days on the world renowned Garden Route. The best way to experience this magnificent part of South Africa is to drive – the drive itself is an incredible experience. Especially if you hire a Ferrari.

Day 1 – 5:Manabay -cape town.

On your arrival at Cape Town Airport you will be met with a hire car so that you can mosey on to MannaBay (prices include 9 day car hire) where you’ll be staying in the magnificent Versailles Suite, looking out over the Mother City and Lions Head. This journey to MannaBay, Cape Town’s highest hotel at the foot of Table Mountain, is approximately 20 minutes.

Cape Town is one of the most interesting, diverse and vibrant cities in the world. Among the endless array of activities that Cape Town offers, you can explore the city centre, Robben Island or take a cable car up Table Mountain. Alternatively, Rhino Africa can organise private tours, car hire and day trips for you to the surrounding areas such as the Franschhoek and Stellenbosch Winelands or the Cape Peninsula.

There is no shortage of things to see and do in Cape Town, check out our  Cape Town Day Tours . Your four days here are sure to fly by before you hit the road towards the magnificent Garden Route. It is a 3.5 hour drive to Oudtshoorn.

Meals: Breakfast included

Day 5 – 6: Rosenhof Country House,Oudtshoorn .

Rosenhof is the perfect stop to begin your Garden Route Adventure. Rosenhof is a pretty and sophisticated hotel in the middle of Oudtshoorn. The surrounding area is dry and barren, so the Rosenhof appears as a welcome  oasis after a long drive. The gardens are Victorian in design and bushes of full blown roses give the hotel its name – Rosenhof meaning Rose House in Afrikaans. The original Victorian Homestead is where the lounges, bar and restaurants are located. All the rooms are individually furnished around the courtyard in a Cape Victorian style.

The two luxury suites have private lounges and huge double size bathrooms – complete with exercise bikes! Each suite has its own swimming pool. Relax in any one of the luxury lounges, or retire in the smoking room for an after dinner cognac. Traditional South African cuisine is served with cordon bleu flair and has won Rosenhof international acclaim. At Rosenhof there is also a Wellness Centre which includes a Jacuzzi, Sauna, Fully Equipped Gym and Beauty Clinic.

Day 6-9: Conrad Pezula Knysna.

From Oudtshoorn it’s on to the seaside town of Knysna – famed for its oysters and magnificent lagoon. Pezula is a five star resort hotel located just outside Knysna on the border of the Sinclair Nature Reserve and the Noetzie River. Pezula Resort Hotel forms part of a diverse and rare piece of coastal paradise, where nearly four kilometres of pristine coast line are clothed in a profusion of rare cape Coastal Fynbos. The hotel consists of a total of 86 suites, each beautifully decorated with style and panache. You will find the little touches such as the Fynbos on the pillow and the beautiful Molton Brown products in the bathroom to be delightful. The rooms are spacious yet at no stage will you find that they are not cosy and inviting and welcoming.

Meals are served in the elegant Zachary’s restaurant where chef Geoffrey Murray conjures up delicious dishes such as crusted Karoo Lamb Loin and wild Knysna Oysters with cucumber, ginger and sake mignonette. The impressive cellar and vast collection of mostly South African boutique wines as well as imported whiskies and champagnes, ensures that there is the perfect accompaniment to every meal. Why not relax with a Cognac after dinner in the elegant Cigar bar? Spa aficionados will love the elegant Spa facilities at the Pezula Resort Hotel. The spa boasts nine therapy rooms, decorated in muted earthy tones. Clients are encouraged to spend extra time relaxing in the pool, in the rain shower, sauna and steam room. For the energetic the 25 metre indoor heated pool and the well stocked gym allow you to train and keep fit.
